Marvel Legends - Electro

Well, the next custom kinda put itself together, much like my Joe Fixit did some time ago..................I give you: Electro Photobucket

I was happy to just mod the arms from the action feature edition of Electro that came out late in the SMC line. As I opened the package, I went through my regular paces of checking all articulation, and *crack* his ab crunch breaks! Customs gets sidelined for a bit, I find the Sinister Six version, get it at a decent price, and was re-motivated to get my custom done.

I really liked the sculpted details of the SMC version, and did what I've come to call my 'tracing' sculpting technique - meaning, I press some mixed up greenstuff onto whatever details I'm trying to duplicate, make a makeshift mold. Go back to it, oil it up, press more green stuff into it, and whallah! sculpted details!

Did this for front and back costume details. Used a HML Vision for the hips up. Transferred the legs, head, and lightning bolts from the gloves onto Vision. Was a good choice for the base to alleviate any paint rub.

Wanted to add some electrifying energy effects. Some clear twist ties, Tamiya clear paints, and a glue gun later I had some, (made them so they come in yellow, green, blue.......or some are layered colour of green base, with yellow on top.)

Really like how he came together - I think the body proportions look a lot better now. Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

The ONE, The ONLY......The Pearsonic Cup !!!

I give you - The one, the ONLY........The Pearsonic Cup!

A small fortune slowly but surely made it's way into building this masterpiece. I wanted to build a trophy that embodied all that we here share a love for: articulated action figures, but also cater to the purpose of what I was building it for: for all who play in The Pearsonic Cup to drool over the chance to have their name grace a puck, and have it displayed proudly amongst their most loved action figures.

I mean eh, I could be wrong, but as far as I know, this is the first ever internet fantasy league trophy ever created to be won, and physically awarded to the winner. It is much like the Stanley Cup in the sense that the winners, (in this case, singular, winner,) gains temporary possession of the trophy until the following season is completed, and the new winner is then next to bask in the glory of The Pearsonic Cup for their epic victory.

Here is the conceptual drawing of mine from the start of the 1st season, (2008-2009), when I first started to conjure up what The Pearsonic Cup would materialize into:

Photobucket

What it is made out of:

Base: 8 real, solid, galvanized pucks, 1 of which is a game used Canuck puck......and another 3 faom-rubber pucks.

2 threaded metal rods from an old CD rack, a plastic piece from said rack and 2 screws.

Upper base: From a Mcfarlane Slapshot figure, stand from a Final Fantasy figure.

Figure itself: Pearsonic incarnate:

Head: Movie Ghostrider Caretaker Upper body and crotch: TNA Petey Williams....with custom aluminum wrapped knuckles - Hanson brothers style! Ball hips and legs: TNA Homicide

Accessories:

Helmet, stick, gloves, skates: McFaralne Todd Bertuzzi

Octopus: (took forever to find this guy, in scale no less.......Had to buy a multi-pack of sea creatures for $10) from a kids store.

Stanley Cup: Mark Messier figure (NHL Legends)

Glasses: DCD Tim Hunter (tape on glasses is real hockey tape)

Belt: Million Dollar Man

Upper body pads: Evil Ash shoulder pads mounted onto a Bullseye collar, sculpted over. Mr.Sinister straps for actual straps

Initially, I hadn't planned on putting the final bit of detail on him...... (the maple leaf and cracks in the skull,) but I braved the risk and was very pleasantly suprised to see myself pull it off flawlessly. I think it really puts the finishing touch on the figure, and the trophy itself.

Here are the pics for now - still need to snap a few that came to mind late last night .........

After MUCH debate, I knew there was only ONE who belonged tattooed onto Pearsonic's back: Number Four - Bobby Orr! If it isn't obvious, A LOT of work went into this and it's something I'm quite proud of. I would this to become, over time, a much sought after award within our Fwoosh community, not necessarily the internet abroad. The one thing that is a pre-requisite for competing for it: You must be an avid action figure enthusiast. So for those who cared to read through all of my long-winded breakdown yet again, thank you - you win kudos from me.

Oh, and few pics JUST for our 2008-2009 winner, spy0070 of www.thefwoosh.com :

Marvel Legends - Iron Patriot aka Norman Osborn

Well, here's a little something I've been slaving away at on and off again for months now, (eh, I try to keep a number of projects on the go since most nights I only allow myself to execute a key bit or two at a time. Most times I fear if I try to do too much too fast, I risk screwing up that work that was just done.)

I give you the man everyone hates right now: Norman Osborn aka Iron Patriot

Photobucket

Recipe: Hasbro IM

Neck, Head, Helmet: Xorn

Kneadatite for the sculpting, Tamiya Paints.

Kinda straight forward. Neck transplant from Xorn. Sanded down and resculpted features on the Xorn helmet. Scalped Normy, resculpted hair.

What can I say. Lots of tweaking to the sculpted star on his chest, finally got it to an acceptable shape.( Cheated a little with paint work to have it look good.)

Really wanted to go the removable helmet route. Didn't want to mess with alternate heads this time.

Helmet isn't 100% accurate to any art I have seen, but then again, I have seen a few different artist interpretations of what his exact armour and paint scheme look like, as well as helmet appearance. My sculpt was inspired by Heroes Reborn IM, Ultimate IM, Movie IM, and Modern IM..... and was a slight mix of them all.

Extra holes drilled for flight stand in his back, as well as his boots for flight/blast effects,(which are from ML9 War Machine.)

ML Deadpool, everyone's (including MY) favorite Merc with a Mouth

So, here is my take on everyone's favorite Merc with a Mouth - Deadpool!

Recipe:

ML6 Unmasked Deadpool Head

ML6 Punishers guns, bazooka, bazooka shells

ML9 Bullseye upper & lower torso, fingers, belt.

ML14 Moonknight Head

GM wave Havok Arms & Legs

Sin CIty Miho sword & scabbard

Rambo removable bandolier and ankle holster

If you have read my past works, I tend to tell stories when detailing all that went into my custom.....I'll try not to ramble on here.

I was first going just to straight up use a Moonkight for everything, but, well, I didn't like A LOT of what I saw, and what I've seen other customizers overlook for the sake of convienence or laziness. So I not-so-quickly figured out,(eh, at least I live up to my motto: "Little Hustle, Lots O' Muscle",) what parts I wanted to use to achieve my vision of what Deadpool should look like. (I'll need to touch up the bits of paint on his chest, and maybe the black on 'his' left thigh, other than than he's perfect!)

I've been a HUGE fan, and faithful reader of Deadpool since Civil War. When undertaking this character, I looked at A LOT of art to see just what I'd need to do to get this guy right. He's had a number of different costume variations over the years and it was hard to nail down one specific look to go for. I instead, being the fan that I am, went with my own take on the costume.

I sculpted the glove & boot cuffs, boot-tip stripes, and collar with Kneadatite. "Sculpted" the belt buckle by pressing Kneadatite onto ML6 Deadpools'.

Painted everything up with Tamiya Flat Black & Flat Red, with a bit of white and brown touches here and there. Sealed it all with Armory Clear Matte Sealer.

As much as this guy sounds simple and straight forward, all the painting was pretty intensive.

Decided to show mine up against the original, as well as the Rulk wave Union Jack, (since that WOULD be the base that Hasbro intends to use IF they make a Deadpool in the near future - they showed a prototype @ SDCC 09.)

I made this guy with the sole intent of selling him. I need to scrape up some coin for other causes - good ones - TATTOOS! Decided to include ML6 Punisher & ML Xmen BS Gambit coats in the last pic - when I put this on eBay, if bidding should exceed a certain price, the buyer can choose which trenchcoat he'd like Deadpool to have as an extra.
